What’s a Tarot Basecamp?

A basecamp is a place that provides supplies and shelter to explorers on their journey. It exists to equip gear, provision nourishment, encourage rest, and offer guidance—picture windblown tents perched atop a cliffside summit.

The Tarot Basecamp is a liminal space, unrestricted by the confines of a physical space. I created this sanctuary first for myself: I’d been on a long, exhausting, difficult journey of self-discovery. I needed a place to collect my findings, analyze what I’d found, and fill up my energy tanks. I needed somewhere safe to go while I processed.

Among the many tools I experimented with, I’ve found tarot to be the most consistent in building a practice foundation while at the same time, inviting innovation and creativity of self-expression. It’s flexible and versatile, with so many options now on the market available to make a personal and special connection.

I brought Tarot Basecamp to the public because I know I’m not the only traveller out there searching for this space: a space to learn, share, and connect. I’ve met such amazing fellow travellers that I wanted to officially make space to grow and connect. I welcome those who have just picked up a deck or have decades of reading experience. My Tarot Basecamp invites everyone, from everywhere to stop by. Cadets, Anomalies, Interlopers, Iterations, Heretics, Observers, Nomads, Renegades, and Veterans.

Are you ready to join up, Traveller? We launch at dawn.

Hey, I’m Meg and I’m a Traveller

Outside of Tarot Basecamp, I am a wife, mother of 2 boys, neurodiverse, queer, and work my 9-5 in the veterinary industry. I bring all that and 40 years of life experience to my tarot practice.

Like many of us, COVID brought on a bit of an early midlife reckoning, forcing me to realize my coping skills were actually pretty damaging in the long term. Decades of repression, compartmentalization, and disassociation all came bursting out in a massive flood. I saw the trajectory of this path and knew I needed help and changes. I got myself a therapist... and picked up a tarot deck.

I'd dabbled in tarot in my 20s but had gotten stuck in a predictive/psychic style as the only reading style and it didn't stick. Coming back to tarot this time, my head was in a very experimental phase, inviting me to explore the farthest realms of tarot reading. I brought tarot into my shadow work with Hekate and I started an Instagram account to give me a place to express myself and my creativity and hold myself accountable to keep up with the journey. I also wanted to share with others, knowing my struggles were not unique.

After many hours of therapy, thousands of pulled cards, devoured tarot books, sci-fi gaming, binged physics videos, and a very non-linear journey later, I've collected some stable foundations of my tarot reading practice. I'm ready to come down and set up camp... a basecamp
